NEW CASTLE, Colorado - For the second time in eight days, smoke filled the air south of New Castle and a mobile home was destroyed by fire.
Unlike the deadly blaze on Sunday, Aug. 29, no one died or was injured in Monday night's blaze. The Aug. 29 fire claimed the life of 78-year-old Sanford Vaughn Griffin in the Mountain Shadow subdivision, which is connected to Apple Tree Park.

Dental fluoride varnishes
Garfield County Public Health is providing dental fluoride varnishes for children ages 1-12 years old. Fluoride varnish is "painted" onto teeth as a protective coating that helps prevent cavities (and helps stop cavities that have already started). \
The varnish takes only minutes to apply and dries almost immediately. Fluoride varnishing clinics will begin Tuesday, Sept. 7, in Rifle and Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Glenwood Springs from 8:30-11 a.m.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado - Candidates for local and state offices will be on the hot seat tonight for the 24th annual Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association Issues and Answers Night, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Glenwood Springs City Hall.
